DW: Goodbye Dear Minerva

Alrighty, watched the Second Doctors final episodes a month ago and finally got to draw something fo it.

Well, Two's regeneration is very emotional for me, although I don't think it was meant to be hen it was made because Two keeps himself light hearted until the end, when he's forced by the Gallifreyan council to regenerate. He is banished to earth by Gallifrey for his meddling in time, and the stress of that banishment causes his regeneration.
But before all of that, Jamie and Zoe are returned to their homes by the Gallifreyan council. They tell the Doctor that they're memories will be erased, except for their first adventure with the Doctor. Though later we learn that the Gallifreyan's don't have a full understanding of the human brain, so Jamie's memories of his travels with the Doctor return to him in bits and pieces. He becomes mad Jamie because he rants about a time traveling machine, cybermen, daleks, and such. He does get married and have kids, which is great and all...but he never forgets his Doctor, and it hurts so much because he doesn't know where the Doctor went or why he left Jamie at all.
Anyways, the same rule is applied to Minerva, her memory must be erased except for her first encounter with Two. However, since Jamie met the Doctor long before he met Minerva, his memory of her...of their love...will be gone. Two realizes this, and begs the council to erase her memory completely, so that she doesn't remember Two...or Jamie.
The Council agrees to this request, because they're not heartless entirely. Two takes Minerva and Jamie to the side before the erasing happens, and tells them what's to happen.
Both Jamie and Minerva are destroyed by the thought of not remembering each other, and it hurts Minerva more because she won't remember Jamie OR the Doctor. Jamie is angry and begins to protest this whole thing, but the Doctor stops him firmly, telling him there's no way out of it this time.
He looks to Minerva, who's trying her best not to break down and weep, and he gives her the most comforting smile he can.
"Forgive me, Minerva," he whispers. "I only wish there was another way..."
Minerva shakes her head, the tears falling from her golden eyes.
"No, Doctor," she sobs. "This is not your fault...this is how it must be."
Jamie is clenching his teeth and trying not to tear up himself, and the Doctor knows he needs to give them a moment alone.
He steps back and talks to Zoe for a moment, comforting her.
Jamie looks to Minerva, and brings her to his chest, holding her as tight as he can, trying so hard to be strong for her.
"I don' care what these bastards do to my brain..." he whispers, stroking her head. "I won' forget you, Minerva. I won' forget how much I love you."
Minerva sobs into his shoulder, holding him as tight as she can in return.
"Nor mine for you, Jamie," she whispers. "They cannot erase what is in our hearts...our love will endure..."
Jamie releases her just enough so that he can see her face. he brings a hand to her cheek, brushing the tears from her eyes. He smiles at her, a sad but tender smile, and she returns it. He presses his lips to hers, desperately and lovingly, one last kiss.
They release each other, but Jamie keeps her hand in his. He brings her over to the Doctor, so that she can say good bye, and releases her hand into the Doctor's. The Doctor takes Minerva's hand and squeezes it tight, smiling that sweet and loving smile he always does when she's frightened. Minerva smiles back, wanting his last sight of her to not be so sad.
He brings her gently into his chest, hugging her tightly. She clutches his jacket and nuzzled into his coat for a moment, then they release.
"Good bye, Doctor," Minerva whispers, smiling as the tears still fall.
The Doctor pulls out his handkerchief from his coat pocket and gentle dabs at her eyes tenderly.
"Good bye, my dear Minerva," he replies softly.
He gently kisses her brow, and smiles at her once more, before releasing her.
Minerva smiles one last time at him, as she and the others are led away.

Jamie doesn't remember the Doctor or Minerva for a time, and resumes his life in the highlands of Scotland. Minerva doesn't remember anything for a while too, continuing her learning and work as the High Healer of her village.

But soon, Minerva has visions of a dark haired, hazel eyed, handsome highlander. Who smiles at her, holds her, and loves her in her dreams.
And after a few years, Jamie begins to have dreams of a white-haired woman, with golden eyes, that shimmer when she laughs. He kisses her and makes love to her under starlight. But it is always...just a dream...
